What is HighTech-Ready Osmium (HTRO)?

HighTech-Ready Osmium (HTRO) is osmium in an especially high-purity, fine-granular powder form. It reaches purity grades of 4N to 7N – that is 99.99% to 99.99999%. At this purity, interfering accompanying elements can be removed far enough that the material is prepared for demanding technical applications.

HTRO is both the form from which crystalline osmium is grown through crystallization, and the material earmarked for possible future high-tech uses. Visually it shows a grey shimmer and is filled in fine-granular form.

Buying or exchanging HTRO

There are two ways to obtain HTRO – an exchange is not mandatory:

  • Buy directly: HTRO is a standalone product at roughly half the price of crystalline osmium – the crystallization costs do not apply.
  • Or exchange: crystalline osmium can be exchanged free of charge at a 1:2 ratio into HTRO – and converted back into crystalline osmium (the jewelry and investment form) free of charge at any time.

Note: HTRO is held in mandatory collective custody in the high-security vault (compulsory for quantities under 500 g) – unlike crystalline osmium, which you can also hold physically. The current osmium price is shown separately.
